Utilizing smaller racquets, lighter tennis balls and half size court, participants will learn the basic stroke, game strategy, rules and etiquette of tennis.

Gainesville Parks and Recreation basketball league is geared not only for the beginner, but for the experienced player as well. This youth basketball league will provide a structured and curriculum based approach to help kids develop age appropriate skills and strategies. Teams will participate in a 6-week season, featuring weekly games and a post-season tournament to conclude the season. Our basketball league will focus on the following values, skill development, offensive and defensive concepts, and a lifelong enjoyment of the game. Players will participate within the age control date of September 1, 2026. Whatever age a player is on that date will determine their age group.

All age groups are based on the following control dates:

1. 6U Boys = 9/2/2019 – 9/1/2021
2. 8U Boys = 9/2/2017 – 9/1/2019
3. 10U Boys = 9/2/2015 – 9/1/2017
4. Middle School Boys = 9/2/2012 – 9/1/2015

The child's birthdate will determine their age group. No players are permitted to play down an age group.

Gainesville Parks and Recreation will be hosting FUTSAL (Coed). Participants will be divided into groups according to their age, and will compete against teams in the Gainesville area. These age groups include 6U (5-6), 8U (7-8), 10U (9-10). A Calendar of Events will be distributed at registration. This league emphasizes teamwork, sportsmanship, and skill development in a fun, competitive environment.
